The United States Navy is the naval warfare branch of the United States Armed Forces. The United States Navy has been active since October 13, 1775. From October 13, 1775 to present day the United States Navy has been around for 238 years.
"The mission of the Navy is to maintain, train and equip combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas". That is the mission statement from the U.S Navy. The Navy's job is to basically protect the United States from any harm. Not is their job to protect us they are also responsible for protecting our allies. The Navy has been engaged in the many wars that the U.S has been in.
The United States Navy has locations all over the U.S. They have locations in Virginia which is one of their second largest bases. They also have locations in Hawaii, California, Georgia, Connecticut, etc. They also have a base oversea in Japan. Most of their equipment are boats which are basically war vessels. Equipped with technology and weapons. After 1882 they have been creating a "New Navy". After a recommendation from somebody on the advisory panel they asked congress for funds so they can build more modern ships. The United States put one of those new ships to use. In 1898 the U.S was interested in buying colonies from Spain but Spain rejected them. A feud was formed between them. This then gave the U.S a reason the attack. The U.S sent the USS Marine to Cuba.
