During World War 2 the United States was a it different. Americans had to ration in order to supply the war. Some Americans planted "Victory Gardens" in order to supply themselves with food. Also more work became available for Americans.
The War created more jobs during this time. U.S workers played a huge role. They helped produce more weapons and materials for war. Majority of the works were women. There were a lot of women workers because thousands of men joined armed forces. Some women even took on men jobs. They began taking jobs as welders, electricians, and riveters. The character Rosie the Riveter was then created to let everybody know that women can do a mans job.
